Uniting for Safer Waters: PCMFSA and Lifesaving South Africa Lead the Way in Water Safety

The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation South Africa (PCMFSA) and Lifesaving South Africa (LSA) are on a mission to make our waters safer. This partnership combines the expertise of one of South Africa’s leading water safety organizations with the PCMFSA’s global reputation for drowning prevention and education. Together, they are inspiring communities to prioritize water safety and embrace the lifesaving spirit.

Discover the Lifesaving Movement
Every weekend and public holiday, young members of Lifesaving South Africa dedicate their time to ensuring the safety of bathers across South Africa’s beaches, pools, and inland waterways. These passionate volunteers work tirelessly to save lives, often unnoticed, but their contributions are immeasurable.

Now, Lifesaving South Africa invites you to experience their work firsthand through a series of Beach Activations happening across the country. These events offer an opportunity to meet the heroes behind the movement and witness their impact in action.

You may have seen their story through the inspiring video Value Contributions of Lifesaving South Africa, but the activations will bring those efforts to life. It’s your chance to learn about their sacrifices and join the cause by becoming a water safety advocate.

What to Expect at the Beach Activations
Families are invited to participate in an engaging and educational program that highlights the importance of water safety. Key activities include:

WaterSmart Demonstrations: Fun, hands-on presentations to teach drowning prevention and how to stay safe in and around water.

Interactive “Stay Safe” Messaging: Games and challenges designed to empower children and adults alike to be mindful around water.

These activations are more than just events—they are an invitation to join a movement that saves lives. By attending, you and your family can become water-safe ambassadors, equipped with the knowledge and skills to make a difference.

“As we approach the holiday season, I urge everyone to prioritize safety and look after one another, especially around the highest risks of swimming pools and open water. Let’s make this festive season a time of joy and togetherness by creating safe, fun environments for our loved ones. A little awareness goes a long way in preventing accidents and saving lives.

Thank you for your continued support of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation South Africa. Together, we are building a safer future for all. Stay safe and have a wonderful holiday season.”

Why It Matters
Drowning remains a leading cause of accidental death, especially among children. With the holiday season upon us, and families flocking to beaches, rivers, and pools, there is no better time to learn about water safety and teach it to those around you.

Through partnerships like the one between PCMFSA and LSA, we can make a meaningful difference. Join us at the Beach Activations, support the lifesaving community, and become a water safety advocate for your family and community.

Together, we can create a culture of safety and save lives.
