The Water Bike Challenge is an official fundraising event for the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation. We are proud to announce that the renowned event that has garnered great success in Monaco, finally made its debut on South Africa shores!

Under the leadership of HSH Princess Charlene, the Foundation is dedicated to transforming lives through swimming and water safety education. This event aimed to raise funds for our water safety and drowning prevention programmes.

The event took place at Sun City on Saturday, the 16th September 2023. It was an unforgettable day filled with thrilling competition, celebrity appearances, awesome entertainment and fundraising efforts in support of the Foundation’s remarkable projects. We were deeply honoured that Her Serene Highnesses Princess Charlene of Monaco, attended this event in supporting the Foundation’s cause.

While the event benefits the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation South Africa, the primary recipient of its proceeds is Lifesaving South Africa. Serving as the authoritative body for lifeguarding and the promotion of Lifesaving Sport in South Africa, Lifesaving South Africa has embarked on mission to prevent drowning incidents and nurture a thriving community of lifesaving athletes. With a membership exceeding 8,000 individuals, including 4,000 devoted volunteers who carry out lifeguard duties, Lifesaving South Africa operates across 65 coastal (surf) clubs and 22 inland (pool) clubs nationally. Lifesaving South Africa believes in the core values of volunteerism, humanitarian principles, tolerance and acceptance for all, equity through diversity, evidence-based learning, friendship and camaraderie.
